ELIGIBILITY:

Open to students registered in grade 12 in the Calgary Board of Education who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma, demonstrate financial need and wish to trade or vocational training after high school.

One letter of reference is required that outlines the student’s aptitude towards their intended career path and/or their character with respect to education and dedication to their studies. Letters may be provided by a member of the school staff (teacher, administrator, specialist, counsellor) or a community representative who has had direct contact with the applicant.

Selection will be based on financial need, reference, academic standing (with particular attention to any Career and Technology or other associated program marks), and the student’s ability/intent to enter their chosen field of study by January 2025.

SELECTION & PAYMENT:

Recipients will be notified by September. Recipients will be notified by September. Selection will be made by EducationMatters’ volunteer Student Awards Selection Committee. A short-list of selected candidates may be provided to the donor for final selection.

To claim the award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible trade or vocational program of post-secondary study in Canada by January 2025 or an eligible skilled trades or apprenticeship program providing certification that will enable the student to earn a living wage.
