Established in 2007 in memory of David James Anderson, this memorial scholarship is offered to students of Forest Lawn High School. Mr. Anderson was an athletic coach at Forest Lawn and retired from teaching there after eight years. He believed that success was possible with encouragement and effort. This award celebrates those students who have made a conscious effort to improve and contribute to their communities.

Eligibility: Open to students registered in grade 12 at Forest Lawn High School who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress in grade 12 or from grade 10 through 12, and marks sufficient for entrance to a post-secondary area of study. Applicants must have demonstrated financial need. Volunteer and/or leadership activities in school and/or community and/or athletic achievement are considerations of this award.

Applicants are required to submit one letter of reference. Letters may be provided from a school official, employer, or a community leader representing a community-based organization.

Selection will be based on academic progress, financial need and leadership.

Selection & Payment: School-specific. Recipients will be notified by September. The award must be taken up within fifteen months from the date of high school graduation. The recipient must be registered in any eligible program of study leading to a degree, certificate or diploma in a post-secondary institution, or to a study of trades (including vocational or technical) in Canada.
