The Bow Valley Music Club is a not-for-profit society providing an annual series of live musical concerts primarily in the folk music style. Marjorie Taylor was a founding member and hard-working active volunteer for the Club until her passing in 1999. The members of the Bow Valley Music Club are very proud to offer this award to commemorate Marjorie Taylor’s significant contribution to the enhancement of live music performance in the City of Calgary. The award is intended to assist students in furthering their education in music study at the post-secondary level.

Field of Study
Open to students registered in grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents and have demonstrated interest and ability in the study of music in high school as evidenced through participation in structured music school study programs, including extracurricular musical activities.
Applicants must submit an original essay of approximately 500 words describing their involvement in musical performance, areas of current study, and their planned future music study program.
Preference will be given to students who are planning post-secondary studies in acoustic stringed instruments, keyboard or voice.
Selection will be based on the applicant’s demonstrated involvement in music study and the essay.

Selection & Payment
Recipients are selected by September. To claim the award, within two (2) years of notification of award the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post- secondary study of at least two years duration. Payments will be made to the post- secondary institutions.
