Rogers Lehew and his wife Joann were founding members of EducationMatters back in 2003. Together with their daughter, Lora, they established the Lehew-Wyman fund to help students across the city participate in sports and arts initiatives in their schools.

Over the years we had the privilege of getting to know both Rogers and Joann – their passion for education was best articulated by Rogers himself in 2010 when he said “you don’t need a lot of money to do something good, it’s just the will to give it back, because education matters”.

We have lost both Rogers and Joann in a short space of time and will miss their unwavering support, dedication to students, strong belief in public education, and, above all, their friendship. Their legacy of kindness, community spirit, and caring will live on through all the students that their family fund will continue to support for generations to come. To learn more about why the Lehew family started their fund and hear Rogers’ story in his own words, check out the video below. You can donate to Rogers’ fund in his memory and, like Rogers and Joann, make a difference to thousands of students in our city.
