Family breakdown. Hunger. Illness. Unemployment.
With over 121,000 students in the Calgary Board of Education, there are students in every quadrant of our city who are doing their best to make ends meet, while trying to succeed in the classroom.
Educators see students on a daily basis who are trying to succeed in the classroom while dealing with hardships beyond their control.
The Fuel for School program runs at 20 elementary schools across Calgary, providing healthy breakfasts for students who otherwise would not have access. The combination of free food and smiles helps students achieve more in the classroom.
On top of food supports, students across Calgary require assistance in a variety of other critical areas. At-risk youth require additional resources to reduce drop-out rates and prevent students from landing in jail; English language learners require tools and instruction to develop communication skills; and cultural experiences promote healing and reconciliation among Indigenous students.
With your support, we can ensure more students in need are able to access these life-changing initiatives.
