This award was established by Wayne Thomas to support William Aberhart High School students who have demonstrated outstanding school citizenship, displayed leadership in the extra-curricular athletics program and are pursuing post-secondary education.

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to grade 12 students at William Aberhart High School who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma.

Applicants must have displayed outstanding school citizenship during their years at William Aberhart, have been a leader in the extra-curricular athletic program at William Aberhart, exhibiting spirit and support of fellow students with enthusiasm and demonstrate significant financial need.

Applicants are also required to submit one letter of reference from a school official who can attest to the student’s citizenship and leadership within the extra-curricular athletics program at William Aberhart.

Selection will be based on the student’s citizenship and leadership in the Athletics program, the letter of reference, and financial need.

SELECTION & PAYMENT:

Recipients will be selected and notified by September. Selection will be made by a selection committee at William Aberhart High School, including a representative from EducationMatters and may or may not include the donor.

To claim the award, within twelve (12) months of notification of award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study in Canada of at least two years duration, or an eligible skilled trades or apprenticeship program. Payments will be made to the post-secondary institution.
