Eligibility

Open to students registered at any Calgary Board of Education high school. The old saying, “It’s the little things that count” holds true when it comes to creating a culture of care. Simple acts - holding the door open for someone, greeting others by name in the hallway, helping pick up a dropped book, or showing genuine concern when someone is having a tough day – may seem small, but they have a powerful impact. These everyday gestures help foster a pro-social school environment that not only strengthens our community but also contributes to improved mental health and overall well-being.

Students are invited to share their personal “kindness story” by submitting a written letter or video that highlights how they have demonstrated exemplary acts of kindness. Submissions should include specific examples of how the student has supported or helped their fellow classmates, reflecting empathy, compassion, and a commitment to building a caring school community.

Selection will be based on the “kindness story”.
