Richard R. and Linda A. Singleton Education Fund Award

Open to students registered in grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress and have a minimum 75% GPA in grades 10, 11 and 12. Applicants must have demonstrated positive citizenship qualities as revealed by the participation in non-academic activities for the school and/or community. In addition, the applicant must have held a part-time job and/or summer employment as partial evidence of financial need. Applicants must be Canadian citizens, Permanent Residents or Refugees. Applicants are required to submit an original essay of approximately 500 words describing their intentions and aspirations for the course or program of study they are pursuing. The essay should reflect on requirements for success in pursuing post-secondary education at the institution they plan to attend. Two letters of recommendation are required. Letters may be provided from a school official, employer, or a community leader representing a community-based organization, and will attest to the applicant’s general community participation, extra-curricular activities and determination to succeed. Selection will be based on academic merit, financial need, essay and references.
