Eligibility
Preference will be given to students at Bowness High School, although, if there is no suitable candidate, the award will be open to all students in the CBE. Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents, registered in grade 12 and completing the requirements of a high school diploma that will qualify them for post‐secondary education. Applicants are required to submit a video (preferred) of no more than 5 minutes in length which will demonstrate the spirit of respect, acceptance, helping and welcoming traits that the award exemplifies. For applicants who are unable to create a video, an essay of approximately 500 words on this topic is required. Applicants are required to submit 2 or 3 references (letters or videos) at least one from a school official and one from a community leader or close friend describing the student’s spirit and kindness Applicants' spirit and kindness will also be demonstrated through positive citizenship and leadership qualities as revealed by the participation in non-academic activities for the school and community.

Selection & Payment
Recipients are selected by the EducationMatters Student Award Selection Committee and may include representatives of the donor(s). Recipients will be notified by September. To claim the award, within eighteen (18) months of notification of award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study in Canada of at least one (1) year duration (4-year programs accepted but not required) , or an eligible skilled trades or apprenticeship program. Payments are made to the post-secondary institution.
