Eligibility

Open to students registered in grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma and who have personally been impacted by having a sibling or parent with cancer. Applicants are required to submit an essay of approximately 500 words sharing their story of how they and their family have been impacted by having a parent or sibling with cancer. The essay can also reflect on the applicant’s goals for the future and how this scholarship will assist them with reaching their goals in a material way. Selection will be based on the essay.

Complete the online application. Applicants should check with their guidance office for more information and are encouraged to discuss their application with the Scholarship Coordinator at their high school.

Selection & Payment

Recipients are notified by September. The EducationMatters Selection Committee may include the donor or their representative. To claim the award, within one year of notification of receiving the award, the recipient must provide proof of registration in an eligible program of study leading to a degree or diploma including vocational, apprenticeship, technical or post-secondary institutions. Payments are made to the post-secondary institution.
