This award, established in loving memory of Emmalee Cherweniuk, is intended to recognize a well- rounded/multi-dimensional student at Lord Beaverbrook High School or Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School who embodies leadership, teamwork, determination and a positive attitude through their participation in both athletics and fine arts.

Eligibility

Open to students registered in grade 12 at Lord Beaverbrook High School or Joane Cardinal-Schubert High School who have participated in both athletics and fine arts programs and are completing the requirements of a high school diploma that will qualify them for post- secondary education.

Applicants must exhibit leadership, teamwork, determination, a positive attitude and multi-dimensional commitment and skill demonstrated through their work in athletics and fine arts during during high school.

Applicants are required to submit an original essay of approximately 500 words describing how they have demonstrated, and will continue to demonstrate, these traits (as mentioned above) and why they believe they are a good candidate for this award.

Selection & Payment

The selection committee will consist of a representative of EducationMatters and may also include the donor or a designated representative and school staff. Recipients will be notified by fall.

Award must be claimed within eighteen (18) months of receiving notification of the applicant’s successful selection. To claim, the recipient must be registered

in an eligible program of post-secondary study of at least two (2) years duration. Payments are made to the post-secondary institution upon proof of enrolment and confirmation of program of study.
