Eligibility

Open to students registered in Grade 12 completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must demonstrate financial need and be entering their first year of a practical program in health care (certificate, diploma or degree), directly related to patient care at one of the following Calgary post-secondary institutions: Bow Valley College, Mount Royal University, SAIT or the University of Calgary.

International Fee-Paying Students are not eligible to apply for this award.

Applicants are required to submit an original essay of approximately 500 words sharing why they have chosen their particular field of study and why they are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare/patient care.

One letter of recommendation is required. The letter may be provided from a school official, employer, or a community leader representing a community-based organization and will attest to the applicant’s aptitude and potential for success in their chosen field of study.

Selection will be based on financial need, essay and reference.

Selection & Payment

Recipients are selected by September. To claim the Award, within one (1) year of notification of award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study at Bow Valley College, Mount Royal University, SAIT or the University of Calgary. Payments are made to the post-secondary institutions.
