Established in memory of Carol Lee Bellam, this memorial scholarship is offered to students of William Roper Hull School. Carol Lee was a passionate educator in her career with the Calgary Board of Education. She was fundamental to the growth of French Immersion education in the CBE from the early 1980s, first as a teacher at Elboya as it opened with French Immersion, then Assistant Principal at Bishop Pinkham, Principal at Westgate, Director of Administrative Staffing, and Director of Collaborative Learning Community #7

ELIGIBILITY:

Open to students registered in grade 12 who attend/or have attended William Roper Hull School, and who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma or certificate of achievement.

Applicants are required to submit a statement or video outlining how they have demonstrated academic and personal growth during their high school years and how this scholarship will help them reach their future goals.

Applicants are also required to submit one letter of reference detailing the student’s growth. Letters may be provided from a school official, employer, or a community leader representing a community-based organization.

Selection will be based on academic progress, personal growth and the reference letter.

SELECTION & PAYMENT:

Recipients are selected in June. To claim the award, within two (2) years of notification of award the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study leading to a certificate, diploma or degree including vocational, apprenticeship, technical or post-secondary institutions. Payment will be made to the post-secondary institution.
