Western Canada Leader of Tomorrow Award
Achieving a balance between academics and extra-curricular activity can be a truly challenging task. While pure academic scores are important, high school provides a student with the unique opportunity to explore a variety of activities spanning many disciplines. The numerous clubs, arts programs, and sports teams at Western Canada High School are an important vehicle for this journey, but it is the students who invest their precious time participating that really form the basis of this school community.

Eligibility
This scholarship shall be awarded to a grade 12 student who has shown extraordinary dedication or leadership in one or more school clubs, arts programs, or sports teams while maintaining an outstanding academic record. It recognizes an individual who has invested an exceptional amount of time into extra-curricular activities at the school, potentially at the expense of pure academic achievement, and thus may not be in the strongest position for a traditional academic award. Selection will be based on an equal weighting of school citizenship and academic merit. A slight preference can be given to students who have also chosen to pursue a more demanding academic path, such as the International Baccalaureate program. A reference letter from at least one teacher directing the club, program, or sport is required.
