Nancy Wang Women in Engineering Scholarship

A Robert Thirsk High School graduate, Nancy has always had a passion for supporting girls and women to study and pursue careers in the engineering field. This scholarship will be awarded to a student identifying as female graduating from Robert Thirsk High School pursuing an undergraduate degree in engineering from any accredited university in Canada.

Eligibility

Open to students at Robert Thirsk High School registered in Grade 12 who identify as female and are completing the requirements of a high school diploma that will qualify them for postsecondary education.

Applicants must be Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Applicants must be registered in an engineering program at any accredited universities in Canada for Fall 2026 start.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need and are required to submit a personal statement highlighting their involvement in the community, leadership skills, interest in engineering and financial need.

Applicants are encouraged to submit one letter of reference, preferably from a school official such as a science teacher or math teacher.

Selection will be based on a balance of interest in engineering, financial need and school/community involvement with the award not necessarily going to the candidate with the highest marks.

Students can apply by creating an account in EducationMatters’ Student Award Application Portal. Applicants should check with their guidance office for more information and are encouraged to discuss their application with the Scholarship Coordinator at their high school.

Selection & Payment

Recipients are selected and notified before the end of June. To claim the award, the recipient must be registered at an accredited Canadian University and provide proof of enrolment for the fall of the year the award is received. Payment is made directly to the post-secondary institution upon proof of registration.
