The Lehew-Wyman Family Endowment Fund was established in 2004 to support Calgary Board of Education (CBE) students in 3 key areas:
– removing barriers to participating in school sports by providing bursaries to pay for athletic fees or supporting school sport programs;
– providing grants for educational enhancements in the area of theatre studies;
– and supporting projects and initiatives that help nurture and develop future educators.
Educational enhancements help to keep students engaged in the learning process, and can often be the difference between a student persevering to graduation and dropping out. This fund provides opportunities for young people to hone their talents and passions alongside like-minded peers to help them on their journey to become happy, healthy, productive adults.
Joann was one of the original founders of this fund – we will miss her unwavering support for public education and Calgary’s young people, and we are honoured to be accepting donations to her fund in her memory. Joann’s legacy of kindness, community spirit, and caring will live on through all the students that her family fund will continue to support for generations to come.
