This award was established in 2018 by Equinor (formerly Statoil) as part of their ongoing commitment to arts and culture development. Equinor’s intent is to enhance artistic activities linked to educational outcomes, and to encourage students to develop their intellectual skills through active participation in the arts. This award is for a Calgary student who is choosing to pursue post-secondary education in the arts.
Calgary Board of Education and Calgary Catholic School District high schools
Field of Study
Fine Arts: Dance, Music, Theatre and Visual Arts
Open to Calgary high school students graduating from the Calgary Board of Education (CBE) and the Calgary Catholic School District (CCSD). Student will be commencing first year full-time art studies in a degree or diploma program at a recognized publicly funded Canadian University or College in Fall 2019.
Applicants must have a minimum 70% average in Grade 12. An essay/artist statement of no more that 500 words (one-page), should demonstrate passion for the arts and artistic achievements; it should also include future goals and the applicant’s reasons for wanting to be a professional artist.
A letter of recommendation is required from a current or past educator familiar with the applicant’s artistic qualifications.
Volunteerism, internships, or paid work experience is also important to demonstrate a commitment to leading change.
Applicants are invited to submit a sample of their work to illustrate their artistry.

Selection & Payment
Recipients are selected in August and will be notified by September. The recipient must claim the award during the fall of 2019 academic semester. Payments are made to the post-secondary institution upon proof of registration.
