This award was established in 2006 by the Kids Come First Student Award Fund at Calgary
Foundation. The purpose of the bursary is to provide an incentive for students who might otherwise be discouraged by reason of financial need to pursue post-secondary education.

Eligibility

Open to students registered in Grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma.  Applicants must have demonstrated academic progress and have a minimum 65% GPA in Grade 12, and demonstrated financial need.

Selection will be based primarily on financial need, with consideration of academic merit.  One award will be given out to one student in each of the two eligible school boards.

International fee-paying students are not eligible to apply

Selection & Payment

Recipients are selected by September. To claim the award, within one (1) year of notification of award the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study of at least two years duration at a qualified post-secondary institution recognized by the Canada Revenue Agency. Payments will be made to the post-secondary institutions.
