Eligibility

Open to students registered in grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma.

Preference will be given to applicants who have a parent or guardian who is a permanent (full-time or part-time) ENMAX Employee or is an ENMAX retiree. Parent/guardian must note their employee number at the end of Section VI, Student Applicant Parent/Guardian Declaration.

Applicants must also demonstrate academic success, with a minimum 70% GPA in grade 12, and exemplify one or more of the following ENMAX values through their participation in non-academic activities for the school and/or community throughout high school: Safety, Integrity, Accountability, Service, Teamwork, Agility, and Innovation.

Applicants are required to submit two letters of recommendation provided by two school officials or a school official and a community leader representing a community-based organization. Letters must demonstrate and speak to the applicant’s success in demonstrating these values.

Preference will be given to applicants demonstrating financial need. Selection will be based on reference letters and academics.

Selection & Payment

Selection will be made by EducationMatters’ Student Award Selection Committee. Recipients are notified in September. To claim the award, within fifteen (15) months of high school graduation, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study of at least two years duration leading to a degree or diploma. Payments will be made to the post-secondary institution.
