Oki, Tansi, Dānit-ada, Umbā Wathtich, Tawnshi, Bous-hoū, Aaniin, Hello,
Our school is located on the traditional territories and oral practices of the Blackfoot Nations, which includes the Siksika, the Piikani, and the Kainai. We also acknowledge the Tsuut’ina and Stoney Nakoda First Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), and all people who make their homes in the Treaty 7 region of Southern Alberta.
Niitsitapi Learning Centre aims to reduce barriers for families and advance the process of truth and reconciliation through education; offering preschool, full day kindergarten, grade 1 and grade 2 programming for Indigenous students living in Mohkinstsis (Calgary).
By providing our students the best possible start to their educational journey and supporting school-to-school transitions when students move from the Niitsitapi Learning Centre, our goal is to improve Indigenous students’ long-term success in school and prepare them to live in both worlds.
Providing a range of educational opportunities and experiences for our students is key to their success, and donors play an enormous part in ensuring that every student, regardless of family finances, can learn, grow, and thrive in school.
Your donations enable us to plan engaging field trips, organize in-school arts residency programs, and support student food security, among many more things. We also aim to host community gatherings and ceremonies for students and your generous donations support this possibility.
You can donate online below, send in a cheque made out to EducationMatters to 1221 8 Street SW Calgary, AB T2R 0L4, or call the EducationMatters office on 403-817-7468 to make a credit card donation by phone.
Thank you for helping our deserving students! This is hard, heart growing work to create cultural safety and responsive practices for our families and for future generations of Indigenous students.
