DONATE NOW and help schools include a mental health/arts program in their classrooms for the 2019/2020 school year!
“View from the Inside” combines art therapy, monologue writing, and performance to help people of all-ages process trauma and open up about their feelings. The course provides 21 hours of instruction broken up over several sessions and costs approximately $5,000 per school.
What is View from the Inside?
The program is designed to foster open discussion about emotional health, self perception, and belonging in a safe, creative environment that helps to normalize and remove the stigma around mental health issues.
How is this project beneficial to students?
Helping students to adopt healthy emotional habits and teaching them how to develop resiliency and coping strategies while still in school will be a huge benefit to them in all aspects of their lives and help to create a next generation that values mental health as much as physical health. Here is an example of how beneficial the program has been for students attending Sir Wilfrid Laurier School: Using Monologues and Masks to Spark Mental Health Discussions
How do donations help?
For schools in affluent areas and/or with active parent societies, funding a program like View from the Inside is achievable; for schools in less affluent areas, however, it can be cost prohibitive without external investment. Due to donations, EducationMatters is able to provide grants to help ensure that all students who could benefit from this program are able to have access to it, regardless of socioeconomic status.
ProjectMatters initiatives are non-core educational enhancements that specifically address our priorities. Your donation is valuable! If we are unable to achieve the fundraising goal, we promise to honour your generosity and use your donation to fund programs that address mental health and arts.
