This reception will be “fuelled” with delicious food prepared by students in the culinary program at Lester B. Pearson High School. Host Ken Lima-Coelho will moderate a panel discussion between accomplished guests, including:
Erica Wiebe (B.Kin, B.A. (Hons)) is the 2016 reigning Olympic Champion in the sport of Freestyle Wrestling. She is an athlete, speaker, and sport advocate. As she continues to pursue the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Erica is an ambassador for Right to Play and Fast & Female, sits on the board for Alberta Sport Connection, and works in a flexible role as a Consultant at Deloitte. This dynamic, driven individual believes in the transformative power of sport.
Dr. Raj Bhardwaj is a family doctor working at the Sheldon Chumir Urgent Care Centre in the heart of downtown Calgary, and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine. He’s also the health and medicine columnist for CBC Western Canada, and the host of the DDx podcast.
Raj’s passion is science communication and helping to raise health literacy in our community. He helps health professionals stay current as well, by organizing and teaching at medical conferences. He’s also a self-proclaimed nerd, speaking on topics such as “How to Die in Space” and “How to Hack Your Hangover” at events such as Adults Only Night at Telus Spark and NerdNite, as well as volunteering for Beakerhead and the Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo (and winning the occasional costume contest at science fiction conventions).
Bonnie retired from Enbridge Inc., after serving for 12 years as a senior executive. She holds a Bachelor’s degree (Great Distinction) from the University of Regina, and a Master’s degree from the University of Calgary. She is a graduate of the Institute of Corporate Directors Education Program, and was named a fellow in 2015. In 2014 she received a Peter Lougheed Award for Excellence in Leadership from the Public Policy Forum and was inducted into the Saskatchewan Petroleum Hall of Fame in 2015. She is a Certified Human Resources Professional and a member of the International Women’s Forum. From 2001 to 2006 she was named as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada and, in 2007, she was inducted into the Top 100 Hall of Fame. She has received Honorary Doctor of Laws from both the University of Regina (2008) and the University of Calgary (2017) as well as an honorary degree from SAIT in 2011. She has served, and serves, on numerous publicly traded and private company boards. On top of this, as a self-described ‘serial volunteer,’ she is involved with the Calgary Opera Society Board, the Capital Campaign Cabinet for the YWCA, and the Institute of Corporate Directors and is the National Academic Director of the Human Resources area.
