In honour of Bev Hubert’s retirement and to thank her for a 40 year commitment to educating Calgary’s children, the CBE Board of Trustees  established a fund at EducationMatters called the Bev Hubert Global Citizenship Fund.

It is Ms. Hubert’s wish that donations to this fund be used in support of the promotion and enhancement of programs which engage students in the understanding and personal demonstration of Global Citizenship.

A Message from Bev Hubert

What an honour! I was truly humbled to learn, that on the occasion of my retirement, the CBE Board Bev Hubert of Trustees has established an endowment fund in my name at EducationMatters. The“Beverley Hubert Global Citizenship Fund” has been launched to enable students to pursue international studies and participate in our global community, without the barriers of financial limitation. This will help students achieve the very important CBE goal of Citizenship, and upon graduation from High School, meet the requirements for an International Certificate.

Global Citizenship is very important to me. In my 40-year tenure with the CBE, and in my various roles, I have had the wonderful opportunity to meet, interact and work with students, parents, colleagues, and visitors from all over the world. I have learned so much from these experiences that I want to extend similar opportunities to our students. Through experiences such as international travel and studies, humanitarian work and student exchanges, students gain greater appreciation of cultural differences and similarities and are better prepared to take their place in this world. They can achieve their personal potential and make significant contributions to creating a better society at the local, provincial, national and global levels.

I believe that each and every one of us has the potential, as well as an obligation, to contribute to a better world. In order to do so, our students need to understand their role within a much larger context. This special fund will help provide equitable opportunities for disadvantaged students to engage in international work and learning that may otherwise be unavailable to them.

I invite you to join the Trustees, and me, in building the Beverley Hubert Global Citizenship Fund. Anyone can contribute to this fund…CBE employees, family and friends. A gift of any amount can be donated; with gifts of $10 or more receiving a tax receipt. Please consider making a donation to this fund on behalf of our most deserving students and in doing so, contribute to our global citizenship goals.

Thank you for your commitment and support. I am truly grateful.

Sincerely,

Bev Hubert
