Nirvair Singh Minhas was a Research Assistant in the Civil Engineering Field. He was an active volunteer member at Dashmesh Culture Centre Calgary and was also previously part of the board of directors’ team at Khalsa School Calgary. He was a kind, loving, hardworking and caring person who loved to spend time with his family and friends. He was a constant donor who supported various not-for- profit organizations that were focused on health and educational initiatives. He had a heart of a poet and wrote several inspirational poems in Punjabi which were published in Magazines and broadcasted on ethnic channels.
He was passionate about supporting high performing students who wanted to pursue post-secondary education. He always believed that there should be more funding support programs in place to help top performing students with their tuition fees.
In his memory, this award will go to a Lester B. Pearson High School student who excels in Grade 12 Math and Science (Physics, Biology, and Chemistry) courses and is actively involved in volunteering programs.

Field of Study
Open to students registered in grade 12 at Lester B. Pearson High School who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma that will qualify them for post‐ secondary education.
Applicants must have excelled in Grade 12 Math and Science (Physics, Biology, Chemistry) courses. Consideration will also be given to involvement in volunteer activities for the school and/or community.
Selection will be based on academics and volunteerism.

Selection & Payment
Selection will be made by staff at Lester B. Pearson High School, including a representative of EducationMatters and recipients will be notified by fall. To claim the award, within six
(6) months of notification of award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of four years duration at a Canadian degree granting institution. Payments are made to the post‐secondary institution upon proof of enrolment and confirmation of program of study.
