The Foundation for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship (FAE) was founded to promote entrepreneurship among
the youth of Alberta and this award was established to acknowledge and reward achievement of Calgary high
school students in the study of business, financial literacy and entrepreneurship.

Eligibility

Open to students registered in grade 12 who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma. Applicants must have marks sufficient for entrance to the post-secondary area of study and at the location of their choice in Canada.

Students must have successfully completed a high school course that focuses on business, financial literacy, or entrepreneurship, and must identify the specific course.

Applicants are required to submit an original essay or video regarding their entrepreneurial and business interests, and to explain how entrepreneurship improves lives and communities. Essays must be no more than 500 words in length (one page, typed or printed) and video no more than 10 minutes.

Applicants are required to submit one (1) letter of reference highlighting their academic abilities, their entrepreneurial and business interests, and their leadership activities. Letters may be provided from a school official, teacher, employer, or a community leader.

Short-listed award candidates may be requested to participate in an interview with foundation representatives and/or EducationMatters staff to assist in determining the final recipient.

Selection & Payment

Recipients are selected by September and will be selected by the Foundation for the Advancement of Entrepreneurship and EducationMatters staff. To claim the award, within eighteen (18) months of notification of award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study in Canada of at least two years duration. Payments are made to the post-secondary institution upon proof of registration.
