Eligibility

Open to Biology 30 students registered in grade 12 at Sir Winston Churchill High School who are completing the requirements of a high school diploma and have earned marks sufficient for entrance to a post-secondary area of study.
Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 85% in Biology 30 while demonstrating a strong work ethic and a high level of integrity. Prospective applicants will be nominated by Biology 30 teachers at Sir Winston Churchill.

Nominees are required to submit an original essay describing how they displayed a strong work ethic and high level of integrity in Biology 30, what they learned or enjoyed most during Biology 30, and how Biology is involved in their future plans. The essay must be no more than 500 words in length (one page, typed or printed).

Nominees are also required to submit a letter of recommendation from their Biology 30 teacher.

Selection & Payment

Recipients will be notified by September. Teachers from the Sir Winston Churchill Science Department along with a representative from EducationMatters will select the recipient. To claim the award, within eighteen (18) months of notification of award, the recipient must be registered in an eligible program of post-secondary study in Canada of at least two years duration, or an eligible skilled trades or apprenticeship program. Payments are made to the post- secondary institution upon confirmation of enrollment from the institution.
