Nancy came west from Ontario after earning a Bachelor of Applied Science in nutrition from the University of Guelph. She started her career at the Lacombe Hospital in rural Alberta, and then moved on to the challenge of developing dietary departments at several small rural hospitals. Her most recent experience is in the non-profit sector. She helped to set-up the Grassroots Northland Farmers Market with a group of like-minded friends, who then managed a number of green projects to raise awareness about environmental issues. Funds from the group were used to support initiatives in the north west of Calgary, including recycling in public schools, Evergreen Theatre performances for students and several publications distributed through the Calgary Board of Education. As a staff member of Alberta Ecotrust Foundation, she gained insight into charitable giving, environmental literacy and was inspired by the inventiveness of the sector. It seems like a natural fit for Nancy to have joined the EducationMatters team.
